well the top one and the bottom ones are cons maybe as the middle one, as i confident you know, started out as a symbol of peace.

Symbols is possibly the problem. You familiar with Roland Barthes? Semiotics?

doc a>>>fraid not but sounds interesting. crosses and ying and yang all seem to me to be tribal signs. ones for ease of recognition and humanities desire to declare themselves as belonging too.
a bit like, as far as i am concerned, supporting millwall or who ever.

a display and recognition statement of communal solidarity perhaps. and more no doubt?

I've always admired Barthes' little schematic for the sign ... an elegant distillation.

I've always been fascinated with such myths and symbols; the difficulty arises when people forget they are dealing with representation and take it for the thing itself.
